The dense forest at Wyverndale’s center is known for being inhabited by at least one band of goblins. This causes the rampant speculation that caves somewhere in the forested hills are linked to the under realms. It would seem that evidence of this connection should be fairly easy to gather, goblins aren't known for their subtly though few goblins in captivity survive much longer than the "trials" that their "fair-minded" captors allow.
The civilized inhabitants of Thornywood tend to be hermits, hunters, trappers and the occasional prospector. No settlements larger than a few camps seem to survive for long in Thornywood. There is surely a druidic grove in the 13,000 square miles of the wood, however current active membership is unknown. These druids seemingly do not interfere with the goblins or the occasional hunters presumably viewing their presence as part of the natural order. It is doubted by few that the druid’s position would change rapidly if increasing numbers of demi-humans were to make their way to the wood.
While the lowlands in Thornywood are viewed as relatively safe, all those who wish to avoid confrontation with the less appetizing side of Wyverndale's populations generally shun the more rugged north and western regions of the woods.
